A majority of the portable MP3 players are actually iPods. You can easily add them to Real Player and enjoy your music even better. But, before you make up your mind to link up your iPod to this software, make sure your Real Player has Harmony technology.
Harmony technology enables the Real Player software to become compatible with numerous devices, including the proprietary iPod. One of the biggest advantages of Harmony technology is that you can escape from the unstable iTunes of Apple. Through Real Player download, you also get a choice to make it your default iPod software. If you do this, you can make iTunes as default.
How to check whether Real Player has Harmony Technology?
Go to Tools>Check For Updates. This will enable a check of the RP version you have. It will also give you a choice to upgrade to the newest available version. In case you are given a choice to take free add-on services during the upgrading process, it is strongly recommended that you opt out of it. This includes the services of Weather Toolbar. Such add-on options only make your PC slow.
If the version check concludes that your Real Player has Harmony technology, it’s great! Once you complete the upgrade process (this is optional), go to Tools>Add a New Device. Here, click on the “Install Device” to add iPod to the software. If you wish to confirm whether the device has been enabled to the software, go to Tools>Preferences>Devices.
Tips To Manage iPod With Real Player
Click on Burn/Transfer option and choose your portable device (in this case, it is the iPod) from the drop-down menu. If you wish to view the library, use the left column on your PC and transfer files from your computer to the iPod or any other portable device.
In case you wish to synchronize your libraries, click on the “Synchronize Device” option that’s located below the left column.
